Mid-America economy remains on positive territory

OMAHA, N.E.(KELO)- Our Regional manufacturing economy is in positive territory for a third straight month…but South Dakota numbers are less impressive.

Manufacturing Supply Managers say their businesses are feeling the effect of tight supplies because of the war in Iran.

Creighton University Economist Dr. Ernie Goss says despite that, the regional manufacturing economy is headed in the right direction.

One area of concern is inflation.

Supply managers expect input prices to spike by more than five percent in the next six months.

South Dakota’s manufactduring sector has lost 400 jobs in the last year…losing nearly one percent of its manufacturing base.
