Edith Brick, 88

The funeral service for Edith I. Brick, 88, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 11:00am, Friday, April 24, 2026, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, SD. Edith died Sunday, April 19, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen.

Visitation will be 9:00-11:00am, prior to the service at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street.

Edith Irene Craft was born January 2, 1938, in Aberdeen, SD, to Ira and Blanche (Johnson) Craft. She attended school in Aberdeen, SD, and graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1956. After moving to Rapid City, Edith met and soon married James Currington, whom she later divorced. She moved back to Aberdeen with her four children.

Edith worked at the Department of Labor in the unemployment insurance division. She retired after a career of 38 years. During this time, she met Laverne W. Brick and his son Wes. They married in 1977. Laverne died in 1996. Edith continued to live in Aberdeen after retirement and moved into Bethesda Home of Aberdeen in 2023.

Edith loved to garden. She also enjoyed cooking, crocheting, cross stitching, and knitting. Edith enjoyed putting together puzzles and doing word puzzles. She enjoyed going to antique tractor and car shows. She was a member of the Antique Tractor Pulling Association. Edith liked listening to music.

Grateful for having shared Edith’s life are her children: James L (Lindy) Currington, Rocky L. (Susan) Currington, Gerald D. (Michele) Currington, Angela Currington (Scotty) Stephen, Wes M. (Sherry) Brick; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Roscoe, Raymond, and Rodney Craft, and sister Pamela Ekern.

Preceding Edith in death are her husband Laverne W. Brick; parents Ira and Blanche Craft; mother-in-law Olga Brick; son James L Currington Jr.; daughter Angela Currington Stephen; son-in-law Hersel ‘Scotty’ Stephen; daughter-in-law Sherry L. Brick; brothers: Rudolph and Rollin; and sisters: Virgibelle, Phylis, Twyla, and Velsa.
