Alice Malsam, 90

The funeral service for Alice M. Malsam, 90, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 10:30am, Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Garden. Alice died Saturday, April 18, at Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00, Monday, followed by a prayer service at 7:00pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Alice Mary Malsam was born September 3, 1935, in Loyalton, SD. To Frank and Anna (Glatt) Roth. Alice grew up in Roscoe and graduated from Roscoe High school. She married Ludwig (Louie) Jacob Malsam on July 27, 1954, twenty-five days after he returned from Korea. Together, they had two children. Deborah (Frank) Eich, Greg (Cindy) Malsam. After trying farming in the Hills View Area for a few years, They moved to Pierre, SD in 1959. After 30 plus years in the physical therapy department at St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre, Alice retired and they moved to Mina Lake, SD and later to Aberdeen.

They spent their retirement years traveling and dancing the Polka, Alice drove the motor home the last couple of years and they didn’t miss many dances. Alice loved to Puzzle and play pinochle with her family at the Lakewood Apartments. She was also a Twins fan.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Louie of 72 years. Sister Clara (Joe) Waldmon, Sister Eva (Art) Zambo, Brother Sabastion (Pauline) Roth, Brother Andy (Arlene) Roth, Her daughter Deb Eich and her son in law Frank Eich.

She is Survived by her son Greg (Cindy) Malsam, Her Grandson Conrad (Kristi) Malsam and their children Carson, Chance, and Kamdyn. Granddaughter Beki (James) Watkins and their children Clara. James and Andrew. Grandson Kris (Afton) Eich and their son Spencer; Her Granddaughter, Tony Rae McCloskey. A very special niece and nephew, Ralph and Jan Borg, and many nieces and nephews. Also her dear friends at Lakewood Apartments.
