81st Boys State to begin Monday

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubcityRadio)- The 81st Boys State is set to begin on Memorial Day and run through Friday, May 31st.

According to the itinerary, here’s how the schedule is planned for the week.

The event begins with registration at 12pm Monday.  The first assembly they will hear from the new Director, Gene Opbrock.  There will be a Memorial Service to take Monday night at 7:30 to honor those who have participated at Boys State who gave up their lives for America’s freedom.

Tuesday, the morning will start with city council does.  Aberdeen City Council member Josh Rife will talk about at 10:15am.

At 3:45pm, the Boys State will hear from Attorney General Marty Jackley.

At 8:45pm, they will hear and ask questions to U.S. Congressman Dusty Johnson.

On Wednesday, Boys State will hear about how county government works from Brown County Commission Mike Wiese at 8:45am.  At 10:15am, they will hear from & ask questions to U.S. Senator John Thune.

On Thursday, the former South Dakota Speaker Spencer Gosch will do the first of three citizen’s forum at 8:45am.  The second forum will also be at 1pm Thursday.  The final forum is 8:45am on Friday.

Governor Noem will attend the Governor’s Banquet on Thursday night beginning at 5pm.

The event concludes with closing ceremonies at 1pm Friday.

All events will take place at the campus of NSU.
