Gary Lee Harmening, age 82, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Sioux Falls, SD. Gary’s committal service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield, SD. Pastor Melissa Rowenhorst will officiate. Arrangements in Redfield have been entrusted to Hyke Funeral Home (www.hykefuneralhome.com).
Gary was the first born to Howard and Irma Harmening on June 25, 1941, at Redfield, SD. After graduating from Tulare High School, he served a short stint in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Morrell as a purchasing agent. Upon his retirement, he was a short order cook at various locations.
He is survived by a sister Donna (Wayne) Matheny Leesburg, FL; and a brother, Dennis Harmening, Mesa, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Janice (sister), Debbie Harmening (sister-in-law), and two brothers-in-laws, Marvin Phillips and Robert Yarchin.
