Residential fire reported in Aberdeen Wednesday

ABERDEEN, S.D.(Press Release)- A residential fire was reported Wednesday on South First Street in Aberdeen.

Here’s the official statement:

“On March 27th, 2024, at approximately 1511 hours, Aberdeen Fire Rescue was dispatched to the 1500 block of South First Street.  When fire crews arrived, smoke and fire were found coming from a single-family residence.  Initially, it was unknown if anyone was inside the residence.  The residence was searched and no occupants were located.  Two dogs were found inside of the home, and unfortunately, were deceased.  The fire was extinguished and crews remained on scene to ensure no additional fire concerns identified.  The three occupants were not home at the time of the fire, but are displaced due to significant heat, water, and smoke damage throughout the residence.  The home is currently uninhabitable and Red Cross is assisting the occupants.  The exact cause of fire remains under investigation.  No injuries were reported.”
