Dakota State Releases Upcoming Volleyball Schedule

MADISON, SD (DSUAthletics.com) – The Dakota State University Trojan volleyball team, under head coach Amy Veenhof who is entering her 13th season as head coach, has announced its 2021 schedule.  The 31-match slate includes nine home matches at DSU Fieldhouse, three preseason tournaments with four matches each, and a 14-match North Star Athletic Association schedule.

The Trojans make their 2021 debut with four matches in the Hastings (NE) Classic on Aug. 27-28 before opening their home schedule versus Dakota Wesleyan on Aug. 31.

DSU continues their preseason tournaments on the first weekend of September (Sept. 3-4), playing four matches in the College of Saint Mary’s tournament.  This tournament will be located at the United Sports Academy located in North Sioux City, SD.

Dakota State plays in the final preseason tournament tune-up with another four-match slate in Peru, Neb. on Sept. 10-11 before opening the NSAA conference play.

The Trojans remain on the road to begin their conference play, facing regular season defending champion Bellevue (NE) on Sept. 14.  DSU continues their road trip with NSAA contests at Presentation College on Sept. 22 and Mayville State (ND) on Sept. 25.

Dakota State plays eight home matches during the month of October, returning to DSU Fieldhouse on Oct. 2-3 versus Dickinson State (ND) and Valley City State (ND).  After a non-conference match at Dakota Wesleyan on Oct. 5, the Trojans are scheduled for a 4-match home stand versus Waldorf (IA) on Oct. 8, Viterbo (WI) on Oct. 9, Bellevue on Oct. 13, and Mount Marty University on Oct. 22.

DSU travels to Dickinson State on Oct. 22, Valley City State on Oct. 23, and Mount Marty on Oct. 26.  The Trojans host the Saints on Oct. 27 and play the final non-conference contest at Briar Cliff on Oct. 29.

Dakota State wraps up their home schedule on Oct. 30 versus Mayville State.  The Trojans conclude their NSAA conference schedule at Waldorf on Nov. 5 and at Viterbo on Nov. 6.

The top six teams in the final North Star Athletic Association volleyball standings will advance to the conference postseason tournament, held at Civic Arena in Watertown.  The quarterfinals and semifinals round will be held on Nov. 12, with the championship match set for Nov. 13.

The winner of the NSAA volleyball postseason tournament will receive the league’s automatic bid to the NAIA Volleyball National Tournament Opening Round, which is set for Nov. 20.  The national opening round winners will advance to the final site at Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, IA, on Nov. 30-Dec. 4.
