Two Aberdeen Wings Sign On at DIII Universities and Team Signs 18-Year-Old Forward to Tender

ABERDEEN, SD (AberdeenWings.com) – The Aberdeen Wings are proud to announce that defenseman Christian Abrams has announced his commitment to play Division III Hockey for Elmira College.

The 21-year-old has spent two seasons with the Wings; in that time, Abrams played in 104 games and had a total of 26 points and a +/- of +55.

Elmira College ended the 2020-2021 season with a 10-4-1 record and won the United College Hockey Conference Tournament Title.

Abrams made the announcement via Twitter. “I’m happy to announce my commitment to Elmira College to further my education & hockey career!! Thank you so much to all my coaches, friends & family members for all the help along the way! It’s been a crazy ride but I’m glad to call this place home for the next 4!! #goeagles”

“Christian was a very simple, reliable defenseman that prided himself on shutting down his opponent,“ Wings head coach and general manager Scott Langer said.

Elmira College is a private, co-educational, Phi Beta Kappa college located in Elmira, NY. They play NCAA DIII Hockey out of the UCHC.

 

The Aberdeen Wings are proud to announce that forward Jordan Randall has announced his commitment to play Division III hockey for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The 21-year-old Maple Grove, MN, native spent two seasons with the Wings, scoring 25 goals with 37 assists (62 points) in 113 games played.

During the 2016-2017 season, while playing for the Omaha Lancers16U team, Randall lead the NAPHL in goals and was named to the NAPHL 16U Second All-Star Team.

Randall announced his commitment Friday. “I am extremely excited to announce my commitment to the UW- Eau Claire! Thank you to all my friends, family and coaches who helped who helped me along the way! #RollGolds”

“Jordan has been a great wing for two seasons,” Wings head coach and general manager Scott Langer said. “He is a player that likes to compete every night. Jordan’s ability to play a heavy game will allow him to be successful at the next level” Wings Head Coach/GM Scott Langer

UW Eau Claire is located in Eau Claire WI.  They play NCAA DIII Hockey out of the WIAC.  Randall follows former Wings players Max Salpeter & Brendan Riordan playing for the Blue & Gold.

 

The Aberdeen Wings have signed forward Patrick O’Connell to a tender.

O’Connell, 18, just completed his third season playing in the NAPHL and second season for the Little Flyers. The 5’7″, 155 lb. native of West Chester, PA, recorded five points in eight NAPHL regular season games during the 2020-21 season. He helped the Little Flyers 18U team to the Dixon Cup Championship Game in 2021, recording 12 points in six playoff games.

Patrick was also selected to and played in the 2020-21 NAPHL 18U All-Star Game and lead the AYHL 18U & NAPHL 18U in assists during the 19-20 season.

“Patrick is a skilled player that has good vision and ability to make plays,” Wings head coach and general manager Scott Langer said. “He has put up points at every level and we look for him to do that in the NAHL.”
