Michael Floyd Kvernevig, 57, of Kasson, MN, formerly of Bristol, SD, passed away unexpectedly, in his sleep, of an apparent heart attack on February 3, 2025.

Visitation will be Friday, May 23, 2025, 5-7pm, prayer service at 6:30pm, at Fiksdal Funeral Home in Webster, SD. Please feel free to wear your favorite sports team attire or support one of Mike’s. Funeral will take place at Fiksdal Funeral Home on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 2pm, followed by burial at the Webster Cemetery.

Mike was born November 29, 1967, to Gary and Dlon (Roseth) Kvernevig in Aberdeen, SD. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol, SD. Mike was the second born of four children and spent his childhood living and going to school in Bristol. After graduating from Bristol High School, he attended South Dakota State University (SDSU) in Brookings, SD. In 1990, equipped with his Microbiology degree, he started a career in the Pharmaceutical Field, moving to Fort Dodge, IA,where he worked for Fort Dodge Animal Health.

Mike was a dedicated employee and took pride in his work. He had most recently joined the team at Pharmaceutical Specialties Inc. (PSI) in Rochester, MN, as their Director of Production. He was an excellent leader and genuinely cared about his team. He worked diligently on mentoring them in their personal development as well as teaching them to give each other grace – “Progress Over Perfection” was his mantra. Due to his kind nature and kindred spirit, Mike formed lasting bonds with many of his coworkers. He will certainly be missed by those at Fort Dodge Animal Health, Raytheon Engineers & Constructors, Kansas City, MO, Thermo Fisher Scientific in Lenexa, KS, Zoetis in Charles City, IA, Takeda Pharmaceuticals Ltd in Brooklyn Park, MN and now these dear folks at PSI in Rochester.

Mike enjoyed playing golf. He was an avid sports fan and was passionate about cheering for the MN Vikings and KC Chiefs and many college sports teams as well. He was a proud alumnus of SDSU, often traveling with friends to cheer on the Jackrabbits. But Mike’s favorite sporting events to attend were ones where his boys were the participants. If he wasn’t coaching from the sidelines, he was cheering them on in the stands or on the trap range. Mike was immensely proud of his boys and would happily share memories from their childhood or brag of the young men they have grown to be.

Mike was an animated storyteller and would often recite lines from his favorite movies. He enjoyed telling a good story from memories shared growing up, often getting others involved in telling it. You couldn’t help but chuckle when you heard his hearty laugh, and his smile could light up a room! He cherished time spent with family and friends and rarely missed an opportunity to go hunting or fishing during a trip back home to SD.

Grateful for having shared Mike’s life are his two sons, Brenden Kvernevig (fiancé Emily N.) of Des Moines, IA, and Ryan Kvernevig (girlfriend Emily C.) of Charles City, IA; his parents, Gary and Dlon (Roseth) Kvernevig of Aberdeen, SD; sisters, Lori Kvernevig of Lino Lakes, MN, Shawn (Jeffrey) Hanson of Bath, SD and Melissa (Patrick) Haugh of Winnebago, MN. Uncle Mike will be missed by his niece, Hailey (Tim) Engelhart, nephews Logan (Kimberly) Hanson, Layne Hanson, Brody Haugh and 3 great nieces.

Preceding Mike in death were paternal grandparents: Rodney & Arlene (Brenden) Kvernevig and maternal grandparents: Floyd & Gladys (Nold) Roseth and other dear loved ones.

We love you, Bro, and will miss you and your smile, until we meet again. Heard Dat!
