PIERRE, S.D.(KELO)- It appears the handwriting is on the wall…South Dakota public college and university students will most likely face tuition rate hikes next fall.
The Board of Regents is meeting at Northern State University this week, and among the items discussed is potential budget and tuition
Regents’ Executive Director Nathan Lukkes (LU-cas) says the budget just passed by the legislature changes the landscape that allowed a tuition rate freeze in each of the last five years.
The tight budget also hit maintenance and repair plans on the state’s campuses.
Lukkes says budget cuts may threaten key programs and have a negative impact on the state’s long-term workforce development and economic growth.
