Chyclinda (Cindy) Schutz, 97, Eureka, SD died Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the Avera Eureka Healthcare Center. Funeral services have been scheduled for 11:00 A.M, Friday, March 21, 2025 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Eureka. Led by Pastor LuCinda Haak. Interment follows at the Eureka Cemetery. Ushers will be James Pfeifle and Wayne Lutz. Pianist and vocalist will be Cameron Gauger and the selections will be “On Eagle’s Wings” and “In the Garden”.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at Lien-Straub-Carlsen Chapel, Eureka.

Chyclinda Lucille Goehring, daughter of Martha (Maisch) and John Goehring, was born on the family farm two miles north of Hosmer, SD on June 26, 1927. She attended country school and Hosmer High School, graduating with the Class of 1945. She also attended a summer session at Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD and taught country school. Cindy, as she was best known, married Reinhold Schutz of Hillsview, SD on September 15, 1946 at Congregational Church in Hosmer. Reinhold’s parents were Christina (Rieker) and Fred Schutz. They were general farmers and raised grain and all kinds of livestock and poultry. Reinhold died January 24, 1975 and Cindy moved to Eureka. Over time, she was employed at various businesses including the Eureka Bakery, Senior Center, Luncheonette, a flower shop, and, most recently, Ultimate Directions. Cindy was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and the Ladies Aid. She was active in the local Busy Belles & Garden Club and volunteered at the Thrift Store in Eureka. Any guests to Cindy’s home would be served a piece of her delicious Kuchen. Cindy loved gardening. She especially enjoyed raising flowers and won many ribbons in flower shows for her arrangements. She loved hosting guests to play cards and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.
Chyclinda is survived by two sons—Terry (Bonnie) Schutz of Eureka and Dale (Delene) Schutz of Hosmer; one sister—Jeanette (Jeanie) Larson of Wetonka, SD; two grandsons—Dustin (Therese) Schutz and Drew (Fiancé Cassie Heuer) Schutz all of Pierre, SD; and two great grandchildren—Adeline and Colton Schutz of Pierre. Cindy was so very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to Reinhold, Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Martha; seven brothers—Howard, Milbert, Junis, Heron (8 months), Thomas (7 years), Jim, and Jerry; and 2 sisters—Wilma Voegele and Winnie Gab.
Honorary bearers will be the Eureka Garden Club.
Casketbearers will be nephews—Tim Larson and Tom Larson of Aberdeen, Craig Gab of Eureka, and Rex Gab of Bowdle; and grandsons-Drew and Dustin.
Services are in care of Lien-Straub-Carlsen Chapel, Eureka.
