Linda Kirschenmann, 94, Eureka, SD, died Thursday, March 6, 2025 at the Avera Eureka Healthcare Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Saving Grace Community Church, Eureka, led by Pastor Randall Cloud. Interment follows at the Eureka Cemetery. Organist will be Wendy Fauth and usher will be Ken Kunz. Congregational Hymns will be “Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound”, “Because He Lives”, “God Be with You ‘Til We Meet Again”, and “How Great Thou Art”.
Visitation will be at Lien-Straub-Carlsen Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 PM with family present from 5:00-6:00 PM.
Olinda Orth, daughter of Martha (Fried) and Frederick Orth, was born January 4, 1931 at the farm four miles west of Artas, SD. She attended rural school and was brought up in the Reformed Church. Linda, as she was commonly called, married Oscar Kirschenmann at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Artas on November 22, 1949. They made their home seven miles south of Artas. While on the farm Linda milked cows and sold cream, butchered chickens, kept a big garden, and did lots of canning. In 1989, the couple moved into Eureka. From 1980-2006, Linda worked as a CNA at the Avera Eureka Healthcare Center. Oscar died October 29, 2005 and Linda lived the rest of her life in Eureka.
Linda is survived by three sons—Dennis Kirschenmann and Mark Kirschenmann of Eureka and Lee (Colleen) Kirschenmann of Omaha, NE; two daughters—Mary (Abraham) Mackey of Stockton, CA and Carmen (Tim) Jundt of Eureka; nine grandchildren—Nathanael Mackey, Matthew Mackey, Christopher Mackey, Joy Mackey, Rachael Kirschenmann, Trevor Kirschenmann, Rosa Jundt, Casey (Katherine) Jundt, and Jake Jundt; one great-granddaughter, Remi Jundt; and a sister-in-law, Bertha Wanner.
In addition to Oscar, she was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Martha; one son, Michael; five brothers—Ruben, Jacob, Raymond, Ervin, and Leslie; and four sisters—Ida Bauer, Bertha Turnquist, Selma Bauer and infant sister Martha.
Honorary bearers will be Linda’s co-workers at the Avera Eureka Healthcare Center, formerly called Lutheran Home.
Casketbearers will be grandchildren—Casey, Rosa, Jake, and Nathanael; as well as nephews Darcy Orth of Fargo, ND and Paul Bauer of Warner, SD.
Linda’s funeral will be livestreamed at the Lien Family Funeral Care Facebook page.
Services are in care of Lien-Straub-Carlsen Chapel, Eureka.
