Alan DuBois, 80

Alan DuBois, 80, of Wessington, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at his home with his family at his side.

Celebration of Alan’s life will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the First Presbyterian Church in Wessington with Pastor Robert Brooks officiating.  Visitation will begin one hour prior.  Burial will be at the Wessington Cemetery at a later date.

He was born on March 16, 1944, at Sprague Hospital in Huron, SD, to Robert and Lura (Payne) DuBois.  Alan graduated from Hitchcock High School in 1962. Shortly after graduation, he married Sally Borah, and together they lived in Huron and Fargo, ND. In 2014, he married Deb Allerdings in Arnold, MD, and they shared many wonderful years together.

Alan spent most of his career in construction, working for Miller Construction after moving to Wessington in 1982. Later, he worked as a metal fabricator at Vern’s Manufacturing until his retirement. His hard work and dedication to his craft were evident in every project he undertook.

One of Alan’s greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved being a part of their lives and cherished their company. In addition to family time, Alan and his wife Deb enjoyed camping together during their free time, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Alan is survived by his wife, Deb; daughter, Lori (Bob) Gednalske; son, Tony (Lisa) DuBois; daughter, Debbie (Gerard) Faini; grandchildren: Molli (Jerome) Staples, Taylar Jenks, Bayli Faini, Megan (Alex) Kasperson, and Shayna (Dylan) Harvey; great grandchildren Haidyn and Jase Bult, Landen and Nolan Jarvis, Isabel Munoz, Lennex, Bauer and Navee Kasperson, Sophie, Arleigh and Brecken Harvey; brother, Roger DuBois; sister, Carolyn Filholm; sister, Evon Schmidt; brother, Gordon DuBois; sister, Gordette Oliva; and many nieces and nephews.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Deanna Kleinsasser; brother, Roland (Doug) DuBois; sister-in-law, Charlotte DuBois; brother-in-law, Butch Schmidt; and sister-in-law Sally DuBois.

Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Alan’s arrangements.
