PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- A bill vague on details to defund the Huron School District has been pulled by the lawmaker who brought it, Representative Kevin Jensen of Rapid City.  Jensen says he brought the bill after a tip to him that the Huron District allows quote boys in girls restrooms.

Jensen pulled House Bill 1224 after learning of another transgender “bathroom” bill(HB1259) being brought by Representative Brandei Schaefbauer of Aberdeen.  House leadershp asked Jensen step down from the House Education Committee and his vice-chairmanship of that Committee.  Representative Lana Greenfield of Doland is Chair of that committee and represents Huron.

Greenfield says the bill was unacceptable and says Jensen owes the Huron district an apologies.   Jensen says he would do the same to any school district if an similar allegation was brought.

The Dakota Scout reports that Jensen has now withdrawn as Vice-Chair of the House Education Committee.
