ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Legislators at Saturday’s legislative coffee were asked about HB1052 which would prevent eminent domain to be used for the CO2 pipeline. Everyone attended all expressed full support for the bill.
District 3 Representative Brandei Schaefbauer discuss that not passing HB1052 could lead eminent domain to be used for other projects cities may not approve.
District 3 Representative Al Novstrup discuss the potential cost for the state to maintain the pipelines if it’s approved.
District 3 Senator Carl Perry says he will be in support once the bill arrives to the South Dakota Senate.
District 1 Representative Logan Manhart hopes this will lead to the end of the CO2 pipeline in South Dakota.
District 23 Representative Scott Moore discuss his work with utilities.
District 23 Representative Spencer Gosch would like to see this topic go away.
District 23 Senator Mark Lapka, who is the prime sponsor on the Senate side explains that the goal of the bill is to protect landowner’s right and not to put an end to the project.
The bill is expected to be on the floor of the South Dakota House Monday.
