WATERTOWN, S.D.(KXLG)- The Watertown School Board approved several policies at Monday night’s meeting, including a new policy on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and revisions to the district’s graduation requirements.
The board unanimously approved a new policy regarding the use of artificial intelligence technology. This policy had already undergone a first reading, and no changes were proposed, leading to its final approval without any further discussion.
The most significant change among the approved policies concerns graduation requirements; Superintendent Dr. Jeff Danielsen explained more to the board.
Board member Jean Moulton raised questions about the change.
Superintendent Dr. Jeff Danielsen clarified that the policy change only addresses the number of required credits.
Moulton responded she understood but still had some unanswered questions. After an initial vote, Moulton requested a roll call vote. The motion was approved with a majority vote, and Moulton was the only one with no vote.
