PIERRE, S.D.(KELO)- A mad scramble is on by Carbon Capture Pipeline opponents to turn in petitions today.

The petitions call for a ballot measure to overturn Senate Bill 201, passed by this year’s legislature.

Circulators were planning to turn in the petitions tomorrow, but now say they believe the Secretary of State made an error.

After checking over the weekend, they now believe the petition deadline is today.

Jim Eschenbaum is Chair of the South Dakota Property Rights and Local Control Alliance.

Eschenbaum says his group knows they’ll be heavily outspent in the campaign.

They’ll rely primarily on word of mouth to run their campaign.
