Iris Neumiller, Sioux Falls, SD and formerly of Java, SD, died Sunday, March 8, 2026 at her son’s home in Sioux Falls.
Iris Verona Stroh, daughter of Leola (Werner) and Henry Stroh, was born January 1, 1933 at Bowdon, ND. She attended the Bowdon Public School and graduated with the BHS Class of 1950. Iris married Emil Andrew Neumiller at Bowdon on October 6, 1950. They lived in Bowdon until 1953 when they moved to the Java/Selby, SD area. In addition to tending to her family of four sons, Iris also worked some outside of the home. She was employed in the dietary department of the Selby Good Samaritan Society for 2 ½ years, worked as a bailiff when the circuit court convened in Selby, and waitressed at the Gold Nugget in Bowdle. Emil died April 26, 1980 and Iris lived in Java until moving to her sons home in Sioux Falls four years ago. Iris enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.
Iris is survived by two sons—Glen Neumiller of the Philippines and Hugh Neumiller of Sioux Falls; one brother, John Stroh, of Bowdon; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to Emil, Iris was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Leola; two sons, Kent and Ryan; one brother, Jerome; and one sister, Pamela Frueh.
Graveside services are scheduled for 12:45 PM, Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the Java East Cemetery, led by Pastor Janet Sandmeier. Casketbearers will be her sons, Glen and Hugh; her granddaughter, Jami Finley of Canton, SD; and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM-12 Noon Thursday at Lien Funeral Home, Bowdle.
