Edward Zweber, Jr., 46

Edward “Bud” Zweber, Jr., 46, of Aberdeen, SD, and formerly of Gettysburg, SD, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Black Hills National Cemetery. Formal services will be held at a later date in Aberdeen.

Bud was born December 5, 1979, in Fayetteville, NC. He grew up in Gettysburg, where he created lifelong friendships and graduated from Gettysburg High School.

In 1998, Bud proudly enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country with courage and dedication in both Iraq and Afghanistan until being honorably discharged in 2008 due to injury. His service shaped him—his strength, his grit, and his unwavering loyalty to the people he loved.

On August 31, 2024, Bud married the love of his life, Hope Luce. Together they built a home filled with laughter, adventure, and deep companionship. They loved fishing, camping, boating, and taking spontaneous trips—always happiest simply being side by side. Bud cherished the outdoors, whether he was hunting, cruising the back roads, or quietly scouting deer. But nothing, not even the freedom of wide-open spaces, compared to the joy he found in his family.

Bud was at his best when he was surrounded by his loved ones. He adored his children and grandchildren with a fierce, gentle devotion. He was the kind of man who showed up—no matter the time, no matter the need. With his big heart, sharp wit, and perfectly timed sarcasm, he could turn a hard day into something lighter. His presence made people feel safe, seen, and deeply cared for. He was selfless to the core, giving more of himself than he ever asked in return.

Grateful to have shared Bud’s life are his wife, Hope Zweber; his children: Brianna (Hunter) Roehrich, Caden Shatto, Mylie Shatto, and Corbin Zweber; his grandchildren: Adlie Roehrich and Kouvr Roehrich; his sister, Katie Zweber; and his brother, Mark Luce; cherished by all family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Edward and Cynthia Zweber, grandparents, and cousins

Bud will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, loyal brother, and a true friend. His legacy lives on in the people he loved so deeply and the countless moments of joy, humor, and generosity he shared. He leaves behind a family who will forever honor him—not only for the life he lived, but for the love he gave so freely.
