South Dakota Senate passes HB1262

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota Senate discussed HB1262 make an appropriation for a non-residential, school-based, therapeutic services facility in Brown County and to declare an emergency.

Prime sponsor on the Senate side is District 1 Senator Michael Rohl.

Rohl discuss the need for this facility in northeast South Dakota.

Rohl talks about the districts that would benefit the most.

All senators that represent northeast South Dakota spoke on support of the bill.

District 3 Senator Carl Perry of Aberdeen where this location is at.

District 4 Senator Stephanie Sauder believes this give students opportunities to succeed in the region.

District 5 Senator Glen Vilhauer of Watertown talks about how his school superintendent are strong supporters of this.

District 23 Senator Mark Lapka whose on the Appropriations Committee believes this is fiscally responsible.

The bill passed the Senate on a 30-4 vote and now heads to the Governor’s desk.
