House State Affairs Commitee passes SB17

PIERRE, S.D.(KELO)- South Dakota legislators are working to forbid foreign political campaign contributions.

Attorney General Marty Jackley’s office drafted the legislation(SB17), to put state law in line with new federal regulations.

The initial offense would be a misdemeanor carrying a penalty of up to a year in ail.

Repeat offenses within a year of the initial offense would be a class six felony.

The bill passed unanimously this morning.
