Wolves Complete Comeback in Minot vs. Beavers

MINOT, ND (NSUWolves.com) – Northern State capped off its regular season with a 72-63 comeback win over Minot State, courtesy of a 37-point game from NSU senior Izzy Moore. Throughout the 40 minutes of action, the Wolves recorded 72 points, 37 rebounds, 10 assists, four steals, three blocks and 12 turnovers while shooting 43.6% from the field, 45.5% from beyond the arc and 87.5% from the line.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After the first four minutes of an even contest, the Beavers turned on the jets, going on a 14-4 run to hold a 25-11 advantage over NSU to end the first
  • Northern State nearly doubled its first-quarter score in the second, collecting 20 points in ten minutes, but still finding itself down heading into the second half
  • Moore got the Wolves flowing in the third, crushing a 3-pointer within the first 15 seconds of the quarter
  • The Sioux Falls native tallied 37 points, three rebounds, a block and an assist in the win
  • After a Taylor Tool 3-pointer to take their first lead of the game since the first minute, Moore responded with another of her own, shooting 51.9% from the field, 60% from long range and 75% from the charity stripe throughout the battle
  • Though the Wolves found their footing in the third by scoring a team-high 23 points in the quarter, the Beavers followed closely, scoring 17 in the quarter
  • Northern State’s defense came up big in the fourth, allowing just four made shots from the field in the final ten minutes
  • Makenzie Carrier tallied her second game with at least 10 points, notching 10 points, four rebounds and three assists while shooting 40% from deep and 100% from the line
  • Lily Klein chalked up 13 rebounds in the game, leading the team, with Megan Counts leading the team in steals with two
  • For the Beavers, Jessica Mogen had a day, scoring 19 points while shooting 75% from the floor, while Taryn Hamling followed with 15 points, six rebounds and a game-high three steals in the contest
