PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Last week revenue number were released projecting about $30 million more than the projected budget Governor Larry Rhoden delivered back in December. As a result, Governor Rhoden announced he would be a 1% raise for the big three(education, healthcare, and government employees).
The Joint Committee on Appropriations on Thursday did two votes. One to set funding for the remainder of FY2026. The other for FY2027 based on the projected revenues. The second vote set the budget target at 2.5 billion dollars.
Republican Sen. Glen Vilhauer of Watertown co-chaired the revenue subcommittee.
Democratic Rep. Erik Muckey of Sioux Falls said it was good news.
At their weekly leadership press conferences. Both expressed optimism toward the projected revenues.

The Joint Committee of Appropriations hope to have the FY2027 budget ready for the legislature in March.
