Senate State Affairs Committee passes SB111

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota Senate State Affairs Committee heard testimony on SB111.  The bill would require that social media companies provide collected personal data of a user at the user’s request and maintain transparent interoperability interfaces.

Senator Michael Rohl of Aberdeen was the Prime sponsor of the bill.

Rohl compare digital data to that of medical records.

Executive Director of Technet, Rose Feliciano spoke against the bill.

The committee passed the bill on a 8-0 vote.
