

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce hosted their first Legislative Coffee held at the Barnett Center on the campus of Northern State University.
All three legislators representing District 3 appeared at the forum.
Senator Carl Perry:
Perry talked about the number of bills the legislature will see in 2026.
Perry talks about the positive impact TIFs have had to the city of Aberdeen.
One bill he’s working on is SB122 that deals with suicide.
Representative Al Novstrup:
Novstrup is one of the appropriators in the South Dakota Legislature. He talks about what’s coming up on Wednesday.
Novstrup also talks about his support for TIFs.
Novstrup talks about one of his bills(HB1177) that dealt with setting an index to calculate legislator’s salaries.
That bill was defeated in the House State Affairs Committee.
Novstrup talks about the pros and the cons of a Governor’s use of the future funds.
Representative Brandei Schaefbauer:
Schaefbauer discuss HB1124 which dealt with protests at churches.
Schaefbauer talks more about HB1124 and the goal she had with that bill.
Schaefbauer talks about her resolution addressing COVID lawsuits which also was defeated.
Schaefbauer is on the House State Affairs Committee. One of the key bills they had last week was HB1005 which dealt with tax exemptions for data centers. She talks about why she was oppose to that.
