PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The House Judiciary Committee heard about HCR6008. The resolution is requesting the attorney general file a lawsuit against the People’s Republic of China and related parties to seek damages related to the COVID-19 global pandemic.
Prime sponsor of this bill is District 3 Representative Brandei Schaefbauer. He introduced a very similar bill back in 2025.
Schaefbauer explain that if passed would allow the South Dakota Attorney General to go forward with legislative approval.
There was no opposition testimony against the bill. Representative Jana Hunt seek a second on this but was denied.
The committee instead chose to send it on to the 41st day on a 9-2 vote to defeat the bill.
