Aberdeen Police respond to incident on Saturday morning

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Aberdeen Police Department responded to an incident that took place at the 2900 block of South 6th Avenue on Saturday morning.

According the their Facebook page, the incident involved a male brandishing a knife toward guests at a hotel before taking off on foot around 5:30am.  The male took off on foot afterward.

About two hours later, the male was located near Kessler’s trying to steal an item. According to witnesses, he appeared intoxicated.  Upon being confronted, he ran on foot to the 400 block of 4th Avenue where he stole a vehicle and drove off before hitting a car that was parked.

He was then transported to Avera St. Luke for medical treatment before being detained to the Aberdeen jail.

He was identified as 27-year-old Marquis Gabriel Martin of Aberdeen and has been charged with the following:

Four counts of Aggravated Assault
• Aggravated Assault Against a Law Enforcement Officer
• Resisting Arrest
• Obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer
• Grand Theft
• Parole Violation
Other agencies helping them include Brown County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Divison of Parole Services, and Aberdeen Fire & Rescue.  The police wants to thank the public and local businesses for their help as well.
