PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The South Dakota House of Representative debated HJR5002. The resolution would an amendment to the South Dakota Constitution to repeal Medicaid expansion passed by the voters in 2022.
Prime sponsor of the resolution was District 6 Representative Aaron Aylward.
Aylward inform the floor about a resolution passed last year that voters will be deciding on in the general elections.
Opposing the resolution was District 1 Representative Nick Fosness who has experience in the medical field.
Fosness reminds the floor South Dakota voters supported expanding Medicaid in 2022.
The resolution was defeated on a 39-27 vote.
Area legislators were split on this resolution. District 1 Representative Fosness was no while Representative Logan Manhart was yes. District 3 Representative Al Novstrup was a no while Representative Brandei Schaefbauer was yes. District 23 Representative Scott Moore was no while Representative Spencer Gosch was yes.
