Update on SB5

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Friday, January 16th, The South Dakota State Affairs Committee heard testimony on SB5.  The bill require the disclosure of whether a ballot question was proposed by initiative or by the Legislature.

Prime Sponsor of the bill is District 1 Senator Michael Rohl.

Rohl stated an example of the ballots from the 2024 elections.

The committee passed the bill on an 8-0 vote.  The bill passed the South Dakota Senate on an unanimous vote on Monday, January 19th.

On Monday, Januarty 26th, the bill passed the House State Affair Committee on a 13-0 and should be on the floor of the South Dakota House of Representative on Tuesday.
