First residential fire reported in Aberdeen for 2026

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Aberdeen Fire Rescue reported a fire occuring around 6:30pm Friday night at the 10 block of 17th Ave SW.  The location was a two unit residential building.  No injuries were reported as two residents who resided there did escape however one pet did passed away.

The fire took place on the basement level and there was smoke damage done to the building.

Aberdeen Fire Rescue once again remind residents to not leave cooking unattended and make sure smoke detectors are working on each levels of the building.

Agencies responding include the  Aberdeen Fire Rescue, Aberdeen, SD Police Department, Brown County SD Office of Emergency Management, Brown County Communications, Aberdeen Public Works, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Red Cross, and NorthWestern Energy.
