BRITTON, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The 2026 South Dakota Legislative Session gets underway starting Tuesday. District 1 Representative Nick Fosness preview what he’s looking for during the session.
Representative Fosness was appointed to District 1 seat by Governor Rhoden back in August. Fosness talked about how he got involved in the process to represent the district.
Fosness main committee he will be on is the House Health and Human Services Committee. He’s the CEO of the Marshall County Healthcare Center Avera in the city of Briiton. He hopes one of the main focus of that committee will be addressing rural health.
At this time, Fosness is not ready to prime bills but one bill he is a supporter of HB1005 which deals with data centers.
Fosness addressed what he would like to see how the legislature will deal with the issue of property tax cuts.
Fosness talks about the issue of education in the rural communities.
Fosness talks about an issue he hopes the legislature will address to benefit District 1 involving hunting & fishing.
Fosness discuss what he believes the relationship between the Governor and the South Dakota House will be during the course of the session.
Governor Rhoden will deliver his State of the State Address on Tuesday at 1pm.
