Preview of the 2026 Legislative Session from District 1 Senator Michael Rohl

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The 2026 South Dakota Legislative Session will get underway on Tuesday.

District 1 Senator Michael Rohl discuss what he’s expecting during this session.

Senator Rohl will be on the Senate Transportation, Local Government, and is Vice-Chair of the Tribal Relations Committees.  He talked about some bills potentially coming out of Tribal Relations Committee.

Senator Rohl has already five Senate bills and two Senate Joint Resolutions submitted.  One bill deal with limit the types of residential improvements for which counties, municipalities, and townships may require a permit.

Another bill discussed was modifing the tax rate on gold severed in this state.

Senator Rohl discuss what he would like to see the South Dakota Legislature address in regard to property taxes.

Rohl discuss some concerns he has with HB1005 which will address data centers.

Governor Rhoden will deliver his State of the State Address on Tuesday at 1pm.
