ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The 2026 South Dakota Legislative Session will begin on Tuesday, January 13th in Pierre.
District 3 Representative Al Novstrup provides a preview.
Novstrup talks about some of the bills he looking to prime this year. He talks about bills addressing county TIFs.
Novstrup also is working on a bill to raise the percentages needed to win a primary from 35% to 50%
He will put an emergency clause in this bill to put this into effect for the 2026 primary.
Novstrup also address concerns about the issue of school opt-outs.
Novstrup also discuss issues that could impact the state. One issue is addressing the issue of recidivism.
Another issue Novstrup addressed is the issue of data centers.
Novstrup also addressed what the relationship between Governor Rhoden and the Speaker of the House Jon Hansen who are both running for Governor in 2026.
Governor Rhoden will deliver his State of the State Address on Tuesday, January 13th.
