Ruby Marie Eliason was born on January 27, 1932, to Nels and Marie (Thorheim) Eliason on the family farm north of Bristol, South Dakota. She attended country school near the family farm and, following her education, moved to Webster where she worked as a nanny for a local family.

On January 15, 1970, Ruby was united in marriage to Carman Sakariason at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Webster. The couple made their home in Webster, where Carman worked in road construction. Ruby often traveled alongside him as he worked on the road, sharing in those years together.

In the 1980s, Ruby obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant certification and began her nursing career at Bethesda Home in Webster. She later accepted a position at Strand-Kjorsvig in Roslyn, where she worked faithfully until her retirement in 2011. Following her retirement, Ruby and Carman sold their home in Webster and moved to Pleasant View Apartments.

Carman passed away in 2017, and Ruby continued living at Pleasant View until 2021, when she moved to Bethesda Home, where she resided until the present time.

Ruby was a devoted member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she was active in Circle. She was also a longtime member of Sons of Norway. Ruby enjoyed playing cards—especially whist, and she loved to win—gardening, and embroidery. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her family and took great pride in being a great-great-great aunt.

Ruby will be forever loved and deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carman; and her sisters, Esther (Rueben) Williams and Shirley (Don) Jorgenson, and one nephew, Curtis Williams.
