RAPID CITY, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Governor Larry Rhoden announced Friday that he planned to participate in two debates announced for 2026.
One will take on April 13th sponsored by South Dakota Public Broadcasting and South Dakota News Watch.
The other will take place on April 27th sponsored by Dakota Scout and Forum News.
Governor Rhoden released the following statement:
“This election is not about who I’m running against, but what I’m running for: to keep South Dakota strong, safe, and free. I realize that debates are a crucial tool for South Dakotans to contrast the candidates’ records and their ideas for the state’s future. Being Governor is a full-time job, and the debates that are scheduled should have a statewide media broadcast to reach the most South Dakotans possible.”
Governor Rhoden would like to see a third debate between the Republican candidates.
The other Republican candidates for Governor are Congressman Dusty Johnson, Speaker of the South Dakota House Jon Hansen, and Aberdeen businessman Toby Doeden.
Lt. Governor Tony Venhuizen would also like to see a debate involving candidates for Lt. Governor.
Republican Primary is on Tuesday, June 2nd.
