Aberdeen Central Band Director Jeremy Schutter talks about Tournament of Roses Parade

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Last week, it was announced that Aberdeen Central Band Director Jeremy Schutter was among 300 band director from across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Panama will being marching at the 2026 Tournament of Roses Parade to be held in Pasadena, C.A. on January 1st, 2026.

Schutter talks about how he became aware of it and when he heard he was going to do this.

Schutter went over the audition process for both the Marching band and the Jazz band that he will be one of 20 among them to participate.

The Saluting America’s Marching Band Directors’ theme is “America’s band directors: We teach music. We teach life.”  Schutter details what that means.

The parade route itself is estimated to be about 5.5 miles.  Schutter was asked how he’s preparing for this.

Schutter discuss his itinerary for this event.  He discuss when he will be arriving in southern California.

Schutter goes over some of the festivals he will be doing there.

Schutter will return to Aberdeen on January 2nd.  He will be playing the trombone for both the marching and jazz band there.  The jazz band will play for the breakfast on New Year’s Eve.
