The funeral service for LaVerne J. Tarver, 91, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 10:30am, Monday, December 8, 2025, at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, with Pastor Derek Baum officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Laverne died Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen.
Visitation will be 3:00-7:00pm, Sunday, with family present from 5:00-7:00pm, followed by a prayer service at 7:00pm at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street.
LaVerne J. Bringelson was born on December 4, 1933, to David and Effie (Holbeck) Bringelson in Armour, SD. She grew up, attended school, and graduated in Armour. After graduating, she started teaching in a rural schoolhouse near Springfield, SD. LaVerne continued her education by attending Northern State University where she received her Teaching Degree; and later received her master’s degree She taught in both Aberdeen and Denver, Colorado before retiring in the early 1990s. She then continued to teach as a substitute for the next five years.
LaVerne met and marriage Richard J. Tarver in Aberdeen, SD. They were married for over 30 years before Richard passed away on January 9th, 1991. Together they raised two children and made their home in both Aberdeen, SD and Denver, Colorado. LaVerne and Richard loved spending time with loved ones and frequently hosted family reunions and gatherings.
LaVerne was always on the go! She enjoyed going on walks and gardening. She loved ice cream and was a terrific cook. She was a member of the Red Shoe Club and Aldersgate Church where she was part of many church groups. She was a very giving person and often gave herself selflessly of her time. She loved her cats and believed that an education was important. She cherished her family and always wanted to know what her children and grandchildren were doing.
Grateful for having shared LaVerne’s life are her son, Dan Tarver; grandchildren: Dani (Ethan) Handt, Sylvia (Eric) Anderson, Josey Tarver, Travis (Felicia) Tarver, Lance (Erin) Tarver; great-grandchildren: Alex Tarver, Ayden Tarver, and Emery Tarver; step-great-grandchildren: Alex (Mikayla) Bellefeuille, Ben Bellefeuille, Jacob Bellefeuille, Cooper Fosher, Callen Fosher, and Colt Fosher; and brother, Vermayne Bringelson.
Preceding in death are parents, David & Effie Bringelson; husband, Richard Jewell Tarver; son, Douglas Tarver; and Sister-in-Law; Ardis Bringelson.
