ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Sabrina Metz has been hired as the new Executive Director of the Aberdeen Downtown Association.
Sabrina was born and raised in Warner, SD and graduated from Northern State University. “Aberdeen has been my home for more than twenty years,” says Metz. “It is a wonderful place to raise a family.” Metz has a mix of volunteer and professional experiences that serve future goals for the Downtown Association and BID I District, including event planning, marketing, small business consulting, and project management. “I have loved working for both public and private organizations in the area, and am excited to lead the Aberdeen Downtown Association.”
The current Downtown Association Executive Director, Alexa Sheldon, will be staying on staff through mid-December to train and execute the two final events of 2025: The Parade of Lights on December 13th, and Mistletoe on Main at The Finery on Main Event Venue on December 15th. “It’s important to me that the good work and heightened focus on downtown carries on after we pass the torch,” says Sheldon. “I’m honored to play a role in this transition and help equip the new staff and board for continued success in 2026.” Alexa plans to stay in the Aberdeen area and remain involved in community work through various projects and boards.
The Aberdeen Downtown Association supports local businesses and strives to drive traffic downtown by hosting campaigns and downtown Aberdeen’s largest events, including the Summer Concert Series, Sizzlin’ Summer Nights Car & Bike Show, Parade of Lights, and more. The Association also manages the BID I district through improvement projects like streetscape metalwork, upgraded landscaping, sculptures and art, and most notably, the 2023 Illuminate Downtown Aberdeen project to bring more holiday lighting to Main Street.
Sabrina will start her role in early December and will work with Alexa to integrate into the role through the month. For more information, please reach out to info@aberdeendowntown.org or call / text (605) 226-3441.
