WATERTOWN, S.D.(KXLG)- In the early 1980’s, Terry Redlin was just starting out in his career as an artist, so in order to earn a living and support his family, he sold many of his original oil paintings. Today, three of those paintings are coming home. Julie Ranum is the executive director of the Redlin Art Center.
While prints of the three paintings have always been on display at the museum, this is the first time the originals will be housed there. Ranum details which paintings will now be on display.
Ranum is especially excited about the acquisition of the third painting.
Ranum says these paintings were all completed before 1985, when Redlin first launched his career as a wildlife artist.
A total of 34 paintings have found their way back home to the Redlin Art Center since its opening in 1997.
During his 30 year career Redlin painted a total of 214 original artworks. The acquisition of the three new paintings was made possible through the support of the Watertown Area Community Foundation and Terry’s son, Charles Redlin.
