ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- Following a lengthy executive session on Friday, the Aberdeen City Council has nominated Aberdeen Police Chief Dave McNeil to be the next City Manager.
McNeil will be replacing current City Manager Robin Bobzien who will be retiring in December.
On Aberdeen Mayor Travis Schaunaman’s Facebook page, the mayor released the following statement:
“Congratulation to Dave McNeil who we selected as the new City Manager. We had five candidates, each of whom could’ve performed the duties. Between the council and internal stakeholders, there was a high degree of confidence in Dave’s experience as a leader. Look forward to continuing to serve Aberdeen along side him.”
Chief McNeil said this:
“I felt I could add value to the city team in this capacity. It’s an honor to be a public servant and I am excited to be able to support the mission of the city council team.”
The vote to confirm Chief McNeil as the next Aberdeen City Manager is scheduled for their meeting on Monday, October 6th.
