A lifelong resident of Redfield, Elinor’s life was marked by devotion to faith, family, and community.

Elinor was a devout Catholic whose deep spirituality and compassion for others guided every aspect of her life.  Known for her unwavering kindness and generosity, Elinor touched countless lives through simple acts of care and understanding.  Her strong faith was a cornerstone that sustained her through both joyful and difficult times.

Elinor shared many years of marriage with her beloved husband Leo, who she married on February 14, 1950, at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Together they built a family rooted in love and resilience.  They were the proud parents of Katherine and Lyle – both predeceased – and leave behind a legacy carried forward by her five sons: Terry & Mary Kay; Joe & Gwen; Steve & Ruby; Tim & Kristie; and Leo & Rusty. Their memory will also live on through numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who continue to feel the warmth of their enduring love.

Elinor is also remembered fondly by her surviving sisters Viola and Donna.  She now joins eternal rest with her beloved husband Leo; her children Katherine and Lyle; her parents Ben and Rose Marlow; her brothers Howard, Vern, and Dale; and her sister Mildred.

Throughout her life, Elinor embraced hard work and creativity.  She found joy in horse activities – a passion that reflected both strength and grace – and took pride in her job, recovering furniture projects that brought new life to old treasures.  Elinor worked at the Livestock Sale Barn as well as the local courthouse, contributing to the fabric of Redfield’s civic life with dedication and integrity. She enjoyed crocheting as a hobby when not busy with her family, which always came first.

To those who knew her best, Elinor was more than a mother or grandmother, she was a guiding light. Her compassion was boundless; her presence comforting; her love unconditional.  As one family member lovingly put it: “Elinor was the best mother ever.” May Elinor Marion Jandel’s memory bring comfort to all who knew her and may her spirit continue to inspire acts of kindness for generations to come.
