Aberdeen City Council did public hearing on the 2026 Capital Improvement Plan

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- On Monday night, the Aberdeen City Council did a public hearing on the 2026 Capital Improvement Plan.  The plan addressed the infrastructure planned for 2026.  The main focus was for the funding for the two-way Main Street.

The council heard concerns from Aberdeen resident Jim Fischer who expressed concerns about safety.

Fischer believe traffic would increase but business will not.

Fischer express concerns about the cost for this project.

Aberdeen City Attorney Ron Wager(Wag-er) inform the public about the procedure used to vote for the Capital Improvement Plan.

Wager expand on the two-way Main Street plans if council agree one is needed.

If the council passes this, Wager talks what the voters would be voting on if a referendum does make it to the ballot

Council people also addressed their thought on tshe two-way Main Street proposals.  Councilman David Novstrup said he would be a yes on this only if it stays two way with no turning lane on Main & South 6th Avenue.

Councilman Rich Ward also talks about his support for this.

No council people opposing this spoke during the meeting.  A vote for this is planned for Monday, September 22nd City Council meeting.
