Brown County Treatment Court Graduation held Thursday

ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Brown County Treatment Court held their Commencement Ceremony Thursday at the Brown County Courthouse.  Two individudals graduated and to respect their identities we will use their first name only.

Deputy Chief for the Fifth Circuit Court Brock Schiferl is excited to be a part of this ceremony.

Treatment Court Judge Cullen McNeece describe the two graduates starting with Dawn.

McNeece moved on to Chas.

Chas graduated from DUI Court and he talks about how long he has been sober since.

Chas talks about how he’s getting his life back together.

Chas’s friend described his determination to make this succeed.

Dawn talks about her sobriety dates for both drugs and alocoholism.

Karen Hofer with Avera Addiction Care Center describe how she got Dawn involved with Treatment Court.

Dawn describe what turned her life around after not succeeding with a different program a few years back.

Dawn credit Treatment Court for giving her the confidence to live a more independent life.

Judge McNeece informed us that typically when someone is enrolled in the program, it may take anywhere from 15-24 months to graduate from it.
