Elaine was born on September 11, 1957, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Frank and Rosemary (Schmidt) Heinz. She grew up in Ipswich surrounded by the love of her family and the values of hard work and compassion. After earning her Master’s Degree in Nursing, Elaine dedicated her life to caring for others, a calling she embraced with skill, empathy, and grace.
Elaine’s journey took her across the Midwest, living in Minneapolis, Wisconsin, and Chicago, before settling in Iowa where she spent most of her life. In her later years, she made her home in Arizona, embracing the sunshine and a new chapter.
She was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeyes fan, a devoted nurse, and someone whose greatest happiness came from caring for her family and helping others. Elaine’s warmth, humor, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Elaine was the proud mother of three children: McKensie (Edward) with daughters Lilianna, Paloma, and Gianna; Grant (Lindsey) with daughters McKayla and Hannah; and Chad (Keilah). Her family was the center of her life. She especially cherished her role as Grandma, a title she wore with joy and pride.
Elaine is survived by her three brothers: Clarence (Corrine), Frank (Karen), and Ed; her sister Evelyn (Al); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who loved her dearly.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents.
