ABERDEEN & PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio)-  The South Dakota Transportation Commission in their meeting Tuesday rejected all bids for the bridge crossing at Elm Lake.

Prior to the meeting, Brown County Highway Superintendent Dirk Rogers told the Brown County Commission that this was likely to happen.

The engineer’s estimate for the bridge was around 2.7 million dollars.

The Transportation Commission received two bids.  One from Prahm Construction for over 4.9 million dollars.  The other offer from Journey Group Companies for over 5.9 million dollars.

Rogers express the concerns the commission are having with this.

Rogers acknowledge that this was a difficult sale for the Transportation Commission to accept.

Rogers reiterates that this bridge project will get done but now likely will start later because of this.

This is the third time the Transportation Commission has denied bids for the Elm Lake Bridge project.  Rogers will address more about this in the County Commission meeting on Tuesday.
