WATERTOWN, S.D.(KWAT)- The city of Watertown announced in mid-June the presence of the Emerald Ash Border within the city limits, and now the city has announced pro-active plans to begin removing ash trees.
Right after Labor Day, city crews will begin cutting down ash trees from boulevards, parks and other city-owned property in Ward D, which is the southeastern part of the city.
Mayor Ried Holien says it’ll give Watertown a different look.
Holien says it’ll be up to property owners to decide what to do with ash trees on their own private property.
