PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- Since changing the name from Capital University Center to Capital City Campus over five years ago, the management and board of the facility in Pierre have continually been looking for ways to provide post secondary education opportunities for people in central South Dakota.

Executive Director Laurie Gill says they have some unique challenges to overcome.

Gill says Capital City Campus currently offers a business degree– formerly called the Learn and Earn program– through a partnership with Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell.

Gill says this “hands-on learning” begins with each student finding a business where they can do an internship.

Gill says if a student who has earned their Associate of Arts degree in Organizational Management decides they want to continue their education, the credits will transfer toward other degrees.

Gill says applications are now being accepted for the new cohort, with classes starting in January 2026.

For more information about the business degree or to apply, go to the Capital City Campus website, https://www.dwu.edu/Business-Degree-Pierre-Campus, or stop by the facility located at 925 E. Sioux Avenue in Pierre.
