STURGIS, S.D.(KBHB) – The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is just over a week away, but Sturgis Police are already in preparation mode.
Sturgis Police Chief Geody Vandewater says they are finalizing their staffing for the upcoming 85th event.
Vandewater says the group rides and escorts keep them busy during Rally week.
And, Vandewater says police expect to deal with the usual Rally-related problems this year.
With an expected increase in the number of attendees this year, Vandewater is encouraging motorists to watch out for each other and practice patience.
This year’s rally begins August 1 and runs to the 10th.
