YANKTON, S.D.(KYNT)-On Wednesday, as part of the Open for Opportunity Tour, Governor Larry Rhoden spent the day in Yankton.
The Lewis & Clark Behavioral Health Services hosted a grand opening ceremony for their new facility.
Executive Director, Dr. Tom Stanage, says the goal of the new facility is to make community-based health services visible and accessible.
Governor Rhoden spoke at the grand opening.
In total, the new facility is 60,000 square ft, and will staff over 220 people.
Governor Rhoden announced that a new $3.8 million facility will be built in Yankton to support pregnant women and young mothers struggling with addiction.
Rhoden says the funding for the facility is part of bill that former Senator Jean Hunhoff brought forward in 2022.
Rhoden says the facility will be built by Avera Sacred Heart Hospital and staffed by Lewis & Clark Behavioral Health.
