WASHINGTON, D.C.(HubCityRadio)- On Monday, Congressman Dusty Johnson announced he will be running for Governor of South Dakota in 2026. On Wednesday, he appeared on the KSDN Midday Report to talk about his campaign.
Johnson talks about why now was the right time to announce his candidacy.
Johnson was asked about wanting to wait to see if Govenor Larry Rhoden before making his decision to run.
Johnson whose main focus for now is what’s happening in D.C. and his experience there will be key to his campaign in South Dakota.
Johnson did address was the issue of property taxes and does believe that the South Dakota Legislature should play a role in that.
Despite the fact that there are 66 counties in the state, Congressman Johnson does believe a rule is in place and is up to each county and how they want to implement them.
Johnson was asked how the South Dakota GOP should factor into these elections.
Johnson reiterated the four issues he’s looking into that he brought up at his announcement on Monday.
